KATHMANDU – Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has said that the State should respect to the former Maoist combatants who were declared disqualified by the United Nations’ Mission in Nepal (UNMIN).

Receiving a report submitted by a taskforce formed to settle the problems of the former disqualified combatants, Dahal said the party would respect the combatants’ contribution to the people’s war and party making process and would take necessary initiative for their livelihood.

The Maoist party had formed a taskforce led by its central committee member Bikesh Shrestha to offer suggestions for former PLA combatants’ livelihood and respectful life.

The task force report has suggested that special management of the disqualified combatants was needed soon along with managing necessary treatment services to the injured and disabled combatants from the State’s side.

Chairman Dahal said he would table the report at the party office-bearers’ meeting and implement at the earliest.
