KATHMANDU – The issue of state restructuring has taken toll in the ordinary life of the people living in the Farwestern region. The region has been closed for the past 13 days and hopes to address the demands of the agitators still remains elusive as ever.
The two groups of agitators demanding just opposite and lack of a capable and equipped negotiations team from the government has pushed aside the possibility to resolve the demands and open the region which now is facing food, medicine and vegetable shortage worst ever.
While a group has been demanding to make the present Seti and Mahakali zone as a region without detaching Kailali and Kanchanpur districts, another group led by some Madheshi and Tharu organizations have been agitating for detachign Kailali and Kanchanpur districts.
Though the government had called the agitators for talks three days earlier, they have been not able to come to talks due to inability of the government and the agitators themselves.
While the government led task force comprises of Deputy Prime Minister K P Sitauala and the agitators have put up five dozen negotiations team.
On top of that the agitators have demanded that the talks be held in the Farwest itself. With the Sitaula left alone to deal with such a huge number of negotiations team, conditions to lift the band in the near future seems elusive.
