Madhesi Front, Janajati Caucus and Muslim Community Stand United

Lawmakers representing the United Democratic Madhesi Front, Janajati Caucus and Muslim community in the legislature parliament today have reached a written agreement to stand united in favor of single identity based federal set-up having 14 provinces.

 

At a time when the issue of state restructuring has proven to be a Gordian knot to crack for the political top brass, around 3 dozen lawmakers from the said communities made a four-point agreement today to stay united for the cause of 14 province federal set up based on one caste identity.

 

The agreement reads that the state restructuring should be done as per the recommendations made by majority of the State Restructuring commissions and the CA Committee on Restructuring of the State and Devolution of State Power. As per their 4 point agreement, the lawmakers would firmly back the single identity based Federalism in case there is voting over the issue at the Constituent assembly.


In a press conference held to inform about their agreement, the lawmakers warned of going against their respective party whips if the latter is issued against their cause for a single identity based state restructuring. RSS
