Madheshi Front mulling on exiting governemnt to intensify agitation

KATHMANDU – The five party alliance of the terai based parties-Joint Democratic Madheshi Front (JDMF)- has shown signs of deviating of its recent commitment to support the agreement on state restructuring.


Second generation leaders of the five member parties have piled up pressure on their senior leaders to resign from the government to protest the recent agreement by organizing public protest programs in the Madheshi region.

They claimed that the recent agreement to form 5 provinces in 20 of the terai districts were agains the JDMF’s official decision.

Exiting the meeting, Minister for Health Rajendra Mahato ruled out the possibility to accept the agreement on forming 11 provinces, that includes five alone in the terai region.

They have demanded that the issue be resolved through voting in the CA by providing 14-province mode of state restructuring committee and 10-province model proposed by state restructuring commission.

The meeting has been postponed till evening for internal discussions. RSS
