Indian Diplomat’s remark draws widespread criticism

KATHMANDU – Senior leaders of lead political parties- Maoist, Congress and UML- have directed the Prime Minister to send back ‘anti-nepali’ and ‘irresponsible’ Indian Diplomat.

Councillor S D Mehta, who has been assigned the duty to look after political affairs at the India’s Birgunj based Consulate was slammed by the bigwigs for expressing anti-Nepali sentiments during a recent party with Nepali local politicians.

In a party on Wednesday Counsillor Mehta had incited Nepali local political leaders to escalate agitation demanding one Madhesh one Pradhesh.

Bigwigs termed the act as a direct interference of Indian diplomacy in internal affiairs of Nepal.

Media reports claimed that the Mehta had suggested the madheshi origin leaders from Bara and Parsa district affiliated with Maoist, Congress, UML and other madhesh based parties to bring whirlwind of agitation in the Madhesh region before May 27 to secure one madhesh one province.
