Dahal assures US envoy of resolving political impasse soon

KATHMANDU -U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Scott H. DeLisi today called on UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s residence in Lazimpat to discuss the current political and other issues.

During the meeting, Dahal told DeLisi that efforts were underway to end the present political deadlock through consensus among the political parties, according to Dahal’s aide Shiva Khakurel.

“Other options also could be considered if consensus was forged among the parties,” Khakurel quoted Dahal as saying.

On the occasion, the former Prime Minister said that lack of consensus among the parties hindered the constitution writing process and added that the Maoist party was always ready to move ahead through constitutional and legal processes.

Likewise, ambassador DeLisi also inquired about a news story that a former PLA combatant piled pressures on industrialists seeking job in Hetauda.

In response to this, Dahal said the party has no such policy and assured the U.S. envoy that such activities would be stopped. RSS
