Bring budget only in consensus: Prez to FM

KATHMANDU – President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has suggested Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun to introduce the budget ordinance only by garnering political consensus among political parties.


In his discussion with Pun, the President reminded that the PM was a caretaker and advised that all the actions of the government should be taken through political consensus.


While making it clear that his actions will continue to be guided by the constitution, President suggested that the government should also continue its engagement with consensus culture.


In response Pun informed the President that the government is putting up efforts to bring the budget ordinance in consenus.


Prior to holding consultations with Pun, the President had held discussion with economist and legal experts. The discussions centered on the impacts of the budget ordinance and possible means to resolve the constitutional void seen in the process with the experts.
Prior to it on Tuesday morning, opposition parties including Nepali Congress, CPN UML had visited the President and urged him for not supporting the budget ordinance prepared by the government.


In their memorandum to the President, opposition parties have claimed that as a caretaker government it did not had credentials to bring the budget ordinance without national consensus.
