KATHMANDU – Top leaders of major political parties said that they were effortful in forging national consensus to give a way out to the constitutional deadlock.
The leaders said that they were active to forge consensus in a bid to end the constitutional and political stalemate created after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
The leaders made such statements to the media persons this morning after having a group meeting with President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at the Office of President at Shital Niwas.
The leaders have expressed their commitments to forging consensus and maintaining mutual trust to do away with the constitutional and political vacuum.
Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said, as a leader of the largest party, he has initiated political consultations and added he was hopeful that the discussions would bear fruits soon.
“The parties have no option other than to stand at a place. Unity among the leaders is indispensable,” Prachanda added.
Similarly, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala stressed that UCPN (Maoist) should be more responsible to end political crisis along with formation of national consensus government.
Likewise, Chairman of the CPN (UML) Jhalanath Khanal said none should push the country to uncertainties and the Prime Minister should tender his resignation for the cause of national unity government.
After the group meeting with President Yadav, UML Chairman Khanal held a one-to-one meeting with President Yadav and informed the President that all parties have objected to the Bhattarai-led government’s move to rule the country through ordinance.
Khanal said he reminded the President that ordinances should not be approved sans consensus among the parties. RSS
