KATHMANDU – Visiting the vice minister for Asian affairs at the international department, Ai Ping, held talks with Congress President Sushil Koirala and CPN UML Chairman Jhalnath Khanal in the capital on Saturday morning.
During his discussion with Koirala, Ping conveyed China’s interest on how the Constituent Assembly dissolved without promulgating the new constitution as it had expected.
While stating that China was shocked by the CA’s unexpected dissolution, Ping stressed on the need to forge consensus among political parties for determining the future course of the country.
Talking after the meeting, Koirala informed that the discussions also on anti-Chinese activities in Nepal and on China-Congress relationship.
He also said that the delegation expressed deep interest in the recent developments among political parties on resolving political impasse and drafting the constitution.
Similarly, the delegation also held talks with CPN UML Chairman at the latters office in the capital.
Discussions with Khanal were also centered on Nepal’s political impasse, peace process and constitution drafting.
Senior UML leader KP Oli and General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel were also present during the meeting.
Ai is scheduled to hold talks with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today. RSS
