KATHMANDU – President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has made it clear to caretaker Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai that he won’t endorse the budget ordinance if it failed to garner consensus from other political parties.
The President’s stance comes at a time when opposition parties including Nepali Congress, CPN UML and the CPN Maoist along with other parties are demanding his resignation as the primary condition for supporting the budget ordinance.
During the meeting held at the President’s place on Monday night, the president expressed discontent with Bhattarai for moving ahead unilaterally and failing to take into confidence other political parties to chart out a new political course to draft the new constitution.
Sources near the President, informed that President expressed reluctance to continue his support to the Bhattarai’s caretaker government and urged him to either garner political support in his favor or to pave way for forming national consensus government by stepping down.
