Nine killed, scores missing as passanger bus plunges into Trishuli River

DHADING – Nine people have died and more than 24 others are missing after a passenger bus fell down into the Trishuli River from the highway at Krishnabhir, Dhusha VDC-1, Dhading district this morning.

The bus with registration number plate Na 2 Kha 4951 was heading towards Kathmandu from Katari, Udyayapur district, the Area Police Office, Gajuri stated.

Local emergency rescuers rescued 20 people and fished out the bodies of a woman, a child and four men immediately after the accident. The injured passengers have been sent to the Highway Community Hospital at Malekhu for treatment.
The bus was carrying 57 passengers and was moving in high speed. It skidded off the road probably due to brake failure during light drizzle, eye-witnesses said. Local rescue workers, personnel of the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police and locals are carrying out rescue works.

Among the dead, only Subba Karki of Udayapur and Deepak Prakash Khanal of Dhadinghave been identified.
Although rescuers are searching for the missing, the search has been hampered due to the increased volume of water in the river. RSS
