Maoist’s hindering consensus building in the nation: Sushil Koirala

KATHMANDU – Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala has said national consensus among the parties has not been possible as the Unified CPN (Maoist) is moving ahead with a strategy to capture state power by imposing autocracy in the country.

At a programme organized here on Tuesday by Nepal Students’ Union, Kathmandu-Palpa Liaison Committee , he stressed that consensus could be forged in any ground if the Maoists were eager to embrace national consensus.

‘The UCPN (Maoist) is trying to impose autocratic rule in the country but our stance is to move ahead by forging a national consensus’, said President Koirala, adding that, ‘The latest activities by the Maoists have widened trust gap among the political parties’.

NC central member Dilli Raj Regmi said difficulty in building consensus among the parties has been attributed to the latest actions of the Maoists while claiming that ground for consensus could be prepared if the Maoists mended their way.

Another central member Rajan Panta suggested the party leadership to come up with concrete initiative to put to an end to the political crisis.

Committee President Bir Bahadur Rana said that the NC should chart out clear policy to address the voice of the common people. RSS
