65 principals of government schools accused of corruption

SAPTARI – Cases against 65 school principals were filed in District Administration Office (DAO), Saptari, in corruption charges.


As many as 17 principals of the secondary schools, six principals of lower secondary, 40 of primary schools and two teachers from Madrassa schools have been accused of corruption and cases against them were filed at the DAO, Saptari, said DAO officer Bishnuranjan Baral.


Majority of the petitioners are chairmen and other officials of the School Management Committees. Some of the guardians of the schools have also filed the cases against them.


Amodhilal Mandal of Trikaul based Rastriya Primary School accused of the corruption was sent to Saptari District Prison, Rajbiraj, in April after the investigation over his case found Mandal guilty while some of the principals have returned the embezzled money.


Case against Mandal was filed on December, 2011 claiming that he had made irregularities amounting to Rs. 164,800.  Similarly, cases against Ramakanta Yadav of the Mahendra Chunni Janata Higher Secondary School, Manaraja including Mohammad Hussein of Shishubari, Digambar Saha of Shankar Higher Secondary School, Hamsha Narayan Mehata of Kushaha, among others, were also filed at the DAO.
