Customs offce seizes smuggled goods

KATHMANDU – Border Security Armed Police Force personnel confiscated various goods worth hundreds of thousands of rupees which were brought from India by evading tax.
 
According to Superintendent of Police of the APF, Radhav Singh Thapa, said that police seized different goods in huge amount including underwears, vests, saris, kerosene oil, matches, among others, from Paitha of Amahi Bayari in Morang district.


It is said that the seized goods will be handed over to Biratnagar Customs office today itself after calculating the price of the goods.


Meanwhile, Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology Regional Office, Biratnagar, has taken action against 2,267 industries and business houses of eastern region on the charge of cheating customers.


According to the Office, the action was taken as irregularities on measurement was found while carrying out monitoring at towns, markets and rural areas of 16 districts in eastern region in the fiscal year 2068/69 BS. 
 
Chief of the Office, Shashi Bhushan Yadav, said that action was taken against small to big industries, including groceries and vegetable shops. RSS
