Closed Chitwan resort workers demand job from government

CHITWAN – The labourers of jungle resorts located inside the Chiwan National Park have demanded their job guarantee, saying that they were left without jobs after the closure of the resorts.


Seven resorts and hotels located inside the national park were closed from the beginning of this fiscal year after the hotelier’s attempts to get their contracts renewed received cold water from the government.


Bharat Ranabhat, a leader of hotel workers, said that they were left high and dry after losing a decade-long job.


Over 1400 workers were working in the jungle resorts located inside the national park.


The jungle resorts were established in 2050 B.S and the government had renewed their licenses for three more years citing Nepal Tourism Year.


The seven jungle resorts closed from the beginning of this fiscal year include Tiger Tops Hotel, Machan Wildlife Resort, Narayani Safari, Rhino Wild Life Camp, Chitwan Jungle Lodge, Island Jungle Resort and Temple Tiger Resort. RSS
