UCPN (Maoist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the achievements of people’s war, people’s movement and Madhes movement were at risk due to lack of consensus among the political parties.
Addressing a journalists’ gathering organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Europe chapter, today in Brussels of Belgium, the UCPN (Maoist) chief said that regressive and status-quoist forces were attempting to rise due to conflict among the political parties.
He was of the view that no regressive force could challenge the people’s expectations if the parties were united adding that the country would get a political outlet soon, Dahal’s aide Shiva Khakurel quoted.
On the occasion, Dahal reiterated that the UCPN (Maoist) was committed to drafting the new constitution with federalism and federalism with identity through the constituent assembly.
Dahal who led the decade-long insurgency said that the Maoist party would not betray the people by quitting the people’s dreams and aspirations.
Meanwhile, Dahal said that dreams of those people wishing for anarchy in the UCPN (Maoist) would never come true.
Inaugurating the second general convention of party’s Janapragatishil Manch of Belgium, Dahal wished for contribution from all sides to make the party stronger than before.
“A force is working with maximum force to disintegrate the UCPN (Maoist) but interest of the group is never likely to come true,” Dahal said.
Dahal also said that party’s scheduled general convention would be concluded at the fixed date at any cost and party would be taken ahead with new thoughts and planning.
On the occasion, Dahal also clarified that he was not in fray of prime ministerial race. “It would be more unfortunate if I become the prime minister. I am not in the prime ministerial race,” Dahal said.
Khakurel quoted that Dahal said that he was not wishing to be the prime minister until new constitution was drafted.
The general convention is scheduled to elect the new working committee.
