KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 4 – Chairman of Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that consensus could not be forged due to the unilateral emphasis on leading the next government on part of the Nepali Congress. At a programme organised in the capital today, Chairman Prachanda said Congress was not ready to discuss even the date for elections and appointment at constitutional bodies.
He was of the view that the stalemate was prolonged because Congress was not serious on forging consensus in a package. Prachanda said the emphasis on forming the new government unilaterally could not solve the problem.
Prachanda also mentioned that it was democratic to continue the government under Baburam Bhattarai. He said that in capacity as the largest party, Unified Maoist-led government should hold the next elections.
