KUKL begins cutting water supply lines of hefty due holders

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 14 – The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited KUKL has begun cutting water supply lines of consumers who have not cleared their bills for a long period. The KUKL, Kamaladi department has cut the supply line of Hotel Yellow Pagoda- one of its consumers with the maximum amount of bill to be cleared.
The department cut the water-supply line of the hotel in Kantipath today. Chief of KUKL, Kamaladi department Bishwaraj Joshi said the pipe-line had been cut after the hotel did not even respond despite getting letters from the water-supply department repeatedly. Hotel Yellow Pagoda is due to clear bill amounting to Rs.790,000.
Though the building which is in the name of the hotel has been bought and sold time and again, the name of the consumer has not been changed yet. The Kamaladi department of KUKL is yet to collect due amount worth Rs.60 million from 428 consumers.
Spokesperson for KUKL Milan Kumar Shakya said a drive had been initiated to take action on consumers who were adamant on not clearing their dues. The KUKL, on July 11, had issued a warning to cut off supply lines if consumers who had due amounts failed to clear their bills within 35 days.
