Police arrest Manihar for kidnap and murder of school children

NEPALGUNJ, AUGUST 22 – Banke police have arrested and made public Zia ul Manihaar- accused of kidnapping and murdering two school children from Nepalgunj three years ago. A group involving Manihaar had kidnapped students Lila Dhar Bhatta and Kapil Dwedi and killed them by slitting their throats even after taking the ransom amount from the students’ families.

 Zia ul Manihaar- who was listed in Nepal’s most wanted criminals- was arrested by Banke police from Nepalgunj itself on July 1. Manihaar also faces charges of the murders of Ganagaram Pasi and Munna Yadav carried out in Banke, Indrapur four years ago.

Manihaar, who is also involved in most criminal cases that take place in the border areas, has been functioning as an active member of the underground group named Terai-Jantantrik Party-Madhesh. Six members allegedly involved in Kapil and Liladhar’s murders are still at large.
