Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang has directed Prime Minister Sushil Koirala to immediately come to the parliament and clarify his recent controversial statement on Tanakpur.
Nembang issued the directive to the government after Maoist lawmaker Janardan Sharma took a strong exception to statement made by the newly elected prime minister that Tanakpur lies on India-Nepal border.
“It is a serious issue of national significance. We have to know whether he had really made the statement,” Sharma said.
Koirala, who is currently on a five-day visit to Myanmar, had made the ‘controversial statement’ while speaking at his home district Banke last Friday.
Sharma also said his party will formally give its views on the issue.
Immediately after Sharma finished his speech, Speaker Nembang directed the prime minister to immediately clarify his views on the issue. Setopati
