PM, UML Chair Khanal hold talks on local bodies election

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and CPN (UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal have held discussions regarding the local bodies’ election.
During the meeting held at Chairman Khanal’s residence in Dallu on Sunday, the Prime Minister informed Khanal about the Third BIMSTEC Summit concluded last week in Myanmar.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Khanal said that the parties would prepare to hold the local bodies’ election as billions of amount has been embezzled and development works were halted in absence of people’s representatives in local levels.
Khanal also said that talks were held regarding the common minimum programmes of the government.
Khanal said, “We are ready to hold local bodies’ election at the date of the Election Commission. We are in favor of holding this job before promulgation of new constitution.”
Asked about the ongoing NC-UML disputes on certification of the new constitution, Prime Minister and President of the Nepali Congress Koirala said the issue would be resolved soon based on mutual understanding.
Similarly, the NC and UML leaders are holding a meeting this evening at UML’s parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar. RSS
