Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sushil Koirala has said the mature conduct of the Nepal Army has proved that it does not act against the welfare of the country and people.
PM Koirala expressed this at a programme organized by the NA at its headquarters to inform the PM about its activities.
On the occasion, the PM lauded the contribution the NA made to international security, nature conservation, disaster management, peace keeping in the foreign countries with the international mission and national development in addition to its primary responsibilities.
According to the Directorate of the Public Relations of the NA, PM Koirala suggested the NA to carry out studies and researches on the national security to face the modern challenges in this sector.
He also stressed that the political parties should have common views on the national security issues.
On the occasion, Chief of Army Staff, Gaurav Shumser JB Rana, informed the PM that the NA has formulated a 10-year plan with six major goals after analyzing the security environment as per the changed context of the country and in line with the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063 and the Military Act 2063.
He also said the NA has proved that it was the guard of democracy as it contributed to making the recent Constituent Assembly elections successful.
The programme was also attended by the Ministers including the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Finance Ministers, Minister for Information and Communications and the Chief Secretary of the government. RSS
