Acting CJ Sharma recommended for Chief Justice

A meeting of the Constitutional Council today has recommended Acting Chief Justice Damodar Prasad Sharma for his appointment as the Chief Justice.
As per constitutional requirement, Sharma’s name has to be endorsed by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee. The President would appoint him the Chief Justice after the endorsement of his name by the parliamentary hearing committee.
The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sushil Koirala recommended Acting Chief Justice Sharma to the post of Chief Justice, Minister for Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs, Narahari Acharya, said.
Mr Sharma, in the capacity of the senior-most justices of the Supreme Court, has been discharging duties as the Acting Chief Justice after then Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi’s appointment as the Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers. SETOPATI
