Sandhikharka, Arghakhanchi, April 30, 2014 – At least 19 people died, and 45 others have been injured in a road accident resulted from the collision of a bus and a truck at Narpani VDC ward No – 5, Jagata of Arghakhanchi district Wednesday.
The accident happened when a passenger bus (Lu 1 Kha 62310) left for Butwal from Sandhikharka and a truck (Lu 1 Kha 7825) coming to Sandhikharka from Butwal collided head-on at a turning point of Jagat Bahakhor. Following the collision, both vehicles fell around 200 meters down the road.
The deceased were Ganesh Belbase, chief of Jyoti Education Campus, Thada. Dr Bishnu Acharya of Bangla and currently working at the District Hospital Arghakhanchi and his father Janardan Acharya, Narendra Banjade of Dharapani, Krishna Shrestha of Butwal, Santadevi Acharya of Sandhikharka, Gulmi, Basanta Shrotri of Dhakabang and Anita Belbase of Thada.
Similarly, others killed after the accident were Dhansari Bagale Magar of Narpani-9, Janak Khanak of Dhakabag, Tilkala Belbase of Jukena, Chhami Shrestha of Rupandehi-7, Chandra Lal Shrestha and Noor Alam, Yama Sudin and Abdullah Lambu from Bihar, India. Identity of one is yet to be ascertained.
Of the injured, condition of 24 is critical and they have been sent to the capital on army helicopter for treatment. Some are rushed to the District Hospital and some sent to Butwal. Nepal Army, Nepal Police and locals rescued the injured.
Meanwhile, two people were killed in a jeep accident took place at Syale Bajar of Sandhikharka VDC-6 Wednesday.
The jeep (Lu 1 Ja 1329 ) was heading towards Krishnanagar from Sandhikharka when it met the accident on the road. Likewise, five pilgrims have been injured when a tourist bus met with accident at Bhurung Tatopani of Myagdi.
A jeep bound for Mustang from Pokhara carrying pilgrims to the Muktinath Temple fell on the bank of Kaligandaki River, according to the District Police Office, Myagdi.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and 18 others have been injured in a road accident at Kerakha road section of Topgachhi-5, Jhapa Wednesday. A passenger (Na 3 Kha 9051) bus heading towards Kakarvitta from Gauradaha overturned on the road after the driver lost the control of vehicle. A woman of around 65 years of age has died in the accident, the District Police Office Jhapa said.
Similarly, an octogenarian died after he was hit by a passenger bus at Bhimsensthan of Sunaulo Bazst, Dhading Wednesday late morning. The police have identified the deceased as local Rohini Prasad Pokhrel, 83. Following the accident, police have arrested the driver and impounded the bus, it is learnt.
