Lumbini tree to be shifted to safe location

JULY 5, 2014 – The Pipal tree at the premises of Mayadevi Temple in Lumbini is to shifted to a safer location using the Matured Tree Plantation (MTP) system.
The sacred tree or Ficus religiosa is being transplanted in order to make way for road expansion taking place in the area, according to Member-Secretary of the Lumbini Development Trust Ajit Man Tamang.
The MTP system has been used for shifting trees in Nepal for the past two years,  according to the District Forest Office, Rupandehi.
