JUNE5, 2014 – A clash between bus entrepreneurs over a dispute in operation of passenger bus service took an ugly turn, with two sides resorting to vandalizing of buses here today.
The Far-western transport entrepreneurs association and Karnali Riverside Transport Entrepreneurs Committee are locked in a bitter battle since the past three weeks.
The dispute began after the Karnali Riverside Committee made preparation to run Kailali-Kathmandu bus service with internet facilities.
Vandalism by the two sides has so far led to damage of some 12 buses owned by the two committees as of this morning, according to the District Police Office, Kailali.
Meanwhile, police have arrested three persons from Dhangadi on the charge of manhandling police personnel as the latter tried to control the incident of vandalism.
Two police personnel were also injured in the incident, according to police.
The two committees had reached to an agreement few days ago but the Far Western Transport Committee has accused the Riverside Committee of violating the agreement.
However, the Riverside Committee has accused the Far Western Committee of trying to impose monopoly by stopping its buses from plying on the road. SETOPATI
