Prime Minister Sushil Koirala underwent medical tests of his tongue at the New York-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in the US Thursday. The test reports show that his tongue is normal, doctors said.

Deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam who is also looking after the portfolios of the Prime Minister in the absence of PM Koirala contacted with Lieutenant Colonel Prakash Deuja in New York and took health updates of the PM, said government spokesperson Dr Minendra Rijal. Lieutenant Colonel Deuja is accompanying the PM.

The medical test reports of the Prime Minister’s lung are awaited.

PM Koirala was requested to visit a well-equipped hospital by doctors here following detection of a small spot on his lung. PM Koirala left here for the US last Monday in connection of medical treatment. He had undergone treatment for tongue cancer at the same hospital few years back.

We had a suspicion that his tongue got infected and its impact was spread to other parts, but with the medical reports, our doubts have been cleared. SETOPATI
