Govt announces public holiday to mourn Thapa’s demise

The government has announced public holiday on Friday to mourn the demise of former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa.
The meeting of the council of ministers held today in Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s official residence in Baluwatar reached the decision.
The final rites of the five-time prime minister will be held with state honors on Friday. 
Earlier on the day, Thapa’s body will be kept at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureswor for public to pay their last tributes.
Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting also decided to place the national flag at half-mast in all government offices in the country and diplomatic missions across the world. 
Thapa died in Medanta Hospital in New Delhi on Wednesday night. His body is being brought to Kathmandu today evening and will be kept at his home in Maligaun. SETOPATI
