Govt warns against increasing house rent

Government has warned of action against any house owner found to increase the rent of their rental rooms, apartments or buildings.
Stating it was wrong to take undue benefits at the aftermath of the destructive earthquake, Ministry of Home Affairs issued a press statement today warning of action against anyone found to increase the rent.
“It has come to Home Ministry’s attention that some house owners in the Kathmandu Valley were increasing the rent,” Ministry’s spokesperson Laxmi Prasad Dhakal states in the statement. “Given the circumstances, it is socially, morally and legally wrong to do so, and the Ministry urges everyone to refrain from such behavior.”

The statement appeals to the public to call 100 (Nepal Police), 1234 (call center) or 1114 (Armed Police Force) if any landlord increases the rent.  SETOPATI
