Students unions affiliated with different political parties on Thursday launched a monitoring campaign of private schools concerning the implementation of the agreement on waiving off half of a month’s fee following the April 25 earthquake.
According to UP Lammichame, Spokesperson of the Nepal Students Union (NSU), student unions launched the campaign after they concluded that the recent monitoring by the Department of Education was not effective.
“To begin with, we will start monitoring schools run by the PABSON and N-PABSON’s officials,” shared Lamichhane.
Anilkishore Ghimire, another student leader of All Nepal National Free Students Union-Sixth, complained the Department of Education did not take action against schools which it found guilty of charging fees under various pretexts.
After the meeting with the officials from the Ministry of Education on June 14, the private schools’ associations had decided to charge just 50 per cent of the tuition fees for the month (April 14- May 14) following the earthquake. RSS
