KATHMANDU, AUG 08 2015 – Major political parties have reached an understanding to federate the country into six states in the new constitution.
The details of the agreement has not been made public but leaders privy to developments have informed that Jhapa Morang and Sunsari districts will remain in the Eastern state and Tarai districts from Saptari and Parsa will be in the Madhes state. Likewise, another disputed district Kailali will also remain in the Hilly state.
Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik (MJF-L) Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, however, has exited the top parties meeting expressing discontent over the states. Gachhadar is adamant on keeping Kailali district in a Tarai state.
