The Constituent Assembly (CA) has approved the amendment proposal registered jointly by the NC, CPN (UML) and UCPN (Maoist) on Article 4 of the Bill of the new constitution with majority.
The top three parties had decided to offer description on secularism in the constitution after receiving widespread public opinion against it. Accordingly, the parties had registered an amendment proposal to add description to secularism.
The description made by the parties states that ‘secularism’ should mean religious and cultural freedom along with safeguarding the religions and traditions that have been followed since the Sanatan Dharma. SETOPATI
