Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the disgruntled Madhesh-centric political parties, who have been waging agitation in the southern plains protesting the new constitution, to join dialogue.
In an address to the nation from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, PM Oli argued that all sorts of issues could be resolved through the discussion and dialogue.
The PM said, “Democracy can’t be a horse without bridle. It has multiple dimensions; impunity is not acceptable.”
He confided that the incumbent government, which was formed at such juncture when the country was reeling under the widespread scarcity of fuels and other essentials as medicines, has already gone through six months since its formation.
He wondered how he could be a person with prejudices while he has already spent half a century of his life in a crusade for nationality and democracy being imprisoned for nearly 14 years.
The PM also made it clear to the dissenting Madhesi leaders that although they had reservations on some provisions of the new national charter, their discontent could be addressed through amendment.
Reminding that it was the duty of all Nepalis to safeguard nationality and unity, the PM urged one and all to be aware of the adverse impact of strikes waged in various places of Tarai on the country and countrymen.
