NRA appoints Office Chief in Sindhupalchowk

The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) today appointed the chief of its office for coordination of reconstruction works in Sindhupalchowk – a district hit the worst in terms of human casualties and physical loss during the massive earthquake of April 25 last year.
The Authority has appointed Padam Aryal as the Office Chief to facilitate coordination in Special Liaison Office, said NRA Spokesperson, Ram Prasad Thapaliya.
The NRA had not opened a coordination office in Sindhupalchowk even after establishing such offices at other quake-hit districts.
The total number of deaths from the 7.6 Richter scale earthquake in Sindhpalchowk was counted at 3,570. At least 65,000 houses were destroyed in the quake, according to a data of the District Natural Disaster Relief Committee.
Meanwhile, the quake survivors are still forced to live under temporary shelters made of tarpaulin sheets and corrugated zinc sheets.
“The Authority will sign a donation agreement amidst a programme to be held in the district on Sunday, to mark the one year anniversary of the devastating quake,” he said. RSS
