Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai today said that the country should be taken on the path to economic, social and cultural development alongside the implementation of the constitution.
Inaugurating the screening of a documentary titled ‘The Gentle Warrior’, based on the life of Ram Bahadur Limbu, also known as the only living personality to have won the Victoria Cross, the highest British gallantry award, Rai said that common agenda of all political parties should be the development of the country while implementing the constitution.
The 45-minute long documentary features the Limbu’s military and family life.”The constitution is a living document. It can be amended with time. So rights of disgruntled Madhesi and other communities could be accommodated by means of consensus and talks through an amendment to the constitution,” he said.
He also stressed the need to create job opportunities so that people, especially the youth, toiling in foreign lands and those aspiring to go abroad for a job can stay back in the country helping with the development of the country.
The Minister for Information and Communications also informed that preparations were underway to bring result-oriented and pro-people budget of fiscal year 2073-74. RSS
