The Nepal Army (NA) has been trying to put out the wildfire that is engulfing community forests at the northern part of Kanchanpur district.
Since the wildfire has been widespreading by leaps and bounds in Martyrs Memorial Community Forest at Bhimduttanagar Municipality-3 in the district, a team of army from Hanumandhwoj Battalion led by Captain Asim Shrestha is effortful to douse the fire since Saturday morning,
A total of 12 Fire extinguisher units have been mobilized to extinguish the fire. The office-bearers of the Community Forest and the locals are also joining the effort, Captain Shrestha said.
The wildfire spread across 72,000 hectares of forest in Far-Western region is out of control, according to Ramesh Chand, Officiating Director at the Far-Western Regional Forest Office.
Forest spans 947,000 hectares of the total area in the Far-Western Region, according to the Far-Western Regional Forest Office. RSS
