SANDHIKHARKA, ARGHAKHANCHI – The incidents of forest fire in different parts of Arghakhanchi in this dry season destroyed property worth millions of rupees, directly affecting people of 24 villages including of the Sandhikharkha Municipality.
A total of 174 houses and 90 cowsheds were completely destroyed after bush fires caught human settlements, Assistant Chief District Officer Chiranjibi Ghimire said.
The fires destroyed food grains, clothes and cash among other valuables.
It has been learned that properties worth Rs 70 million were destroyed in the wild fires.
The District Administration Office, Arghakhanchi, has started distributing relief assistance to the affected people, it has been learned.
Forest area covering some 12,831 hectares was destroyed in the fires.
A total of 144 community forests in the district were caught by the fires, according to the Madan Prasad Dhungana, Assistant Forest Officer at the District Forest Office.
Dhatibang, Siddhara, Simapani, Jaluke, Adguri, Pali and Thada VDCs were mostly affected by the incidents of forest fire. RSS
