Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Woman, Children and Social Welfare, CP Mainali, has said that all the people living within Nepal are indigenous nationalities.
Speaking on the occasion of the establishment of United Khas Chhetri Nepal, Minister Mainali said that all the castes bearing Nepali citizenship and living in the country since long are indigenous nationalities.
To establish one’s identity, Minister Minalis said, a Chhetri person should amass extensive Khas people rather than only Khas Chhetri people.
“If all the Khas people unite then only can their rights and identities be established; Khas Chhetri which has the largest population in Nepal should be given a separate identity,” DPM Mainali insisted.
United Khas Chhetri Nepal Chief Patron, Himalaya Shumsher Rana, said that the Khas Chhetri people have made a huge contribution to creating the country, thus they should be looked upon with special concern by the government.
At the programme, United Khas Chhetri Nepal Chairman, Man Bahadur Thapa, demanded full proportional representation on basis of caste distinction in all the state bodies as Khas Chhetri people have a clear identity.
Khas Chhetri Nepal also demanded enlistment into the indigenous index with independent identity and rights, formation of Indigenous Chhetri National Commission, reinstatement of multi-caste, multi-language and multi-cultural ancient Hindu state and management for minimal allowance necessary to live a life for the elderly citizens.
