Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala has emphasized on the importance of national unity for the implementation of constitution.
In an inaugural session of the seventh central general convention of the Gorkhapatra Corporation Employees Union, leader Koirala said that there is no alternative to consensus, collaboration and unity in order to steer the country to the path of development.
Stressing the need of stable government to take the country ahead towards development and prosperity, she said, “Instability plagues the country when the governments are changed frequently in every nine months”. She also asserted that the political parties should engross their efforts for the country’s betterment rather than for personal and partisan gains.
Speaking on the occasion, Nepal Trade Union Congress President Khilanath Dahal voiced his dissatisfaction for the constitution not adequately addressing the workers’ rights and also demanded the formation of workers’ commission to address the concerns of entire workers section of Nepal.
Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) Chairperson Kulchandra Wagle urged the trade unions of Gorkhapatra to work in unison for the development and expansion of the institution. Wagle was associated with Gorkhapatra as a journalist in the past.
Also speaking on the occasion were Gorkhapatra Corporation general manager Sushil Koirala, Nepal Public Service Employees Union Chairperson Janardan Bhattarai, Gorkhapatra Corporation Employees Union President Bikram Babu Rai, among others.
Four personalities felicitated
The Union has felicitated four personalities including RSS Chair and journalist Kul Chandra Wagle. The four were honoured in recognition of their contribution to the enrichment of Gorkhapatra.
The feted are former Editors of Gorkhapatra Shree Krishna Shrestha and Ananda Ram Acharya and ex-employee Madhav Singh Silwal in addition to Wagle.
Leader Koirala felicitated them with shawl and letter of appreciation. RSS
