As many as 95 settlements of nine local levels in Bajura district are at risk of disaster.
This is stated in a disaster vulnerability report prepared by District Natural Disaster Rescue and Relief Committee.
The committee published a list of settlements in the district which are at high risk in terms of natural disasters and also decided to send them to the centre immediately, Chief District Officer, Chet Raj Baral, said.
Among the 95 settlements listed as disaster prone areas, the highest number of such settlements is in Triveni Municipality followed by Badimalika Municipality.
CDO Baral said the report has identified the settlements at high risk of disaster and recommended relocating them to safer areas. The settlements at high risk of disaster in Triveni Municipality include Bishal Bazaar, Salleri at Ward No 1; Pipalsain, Rautela at Ward No 4; Dhodh area, Kini at Ward No 5; Gaira, Pandharagaun at Ward No 6; Pantali, Dhadali, Bangapata, Kalapani, Giribada, Nepalitol at Phalnetola-8 and Tamsu and Nuwakot at Ward No 9.
Similarly, 15 settlements in Badimalika Municipality have been listed as high-rosk areas in terms of disaster. Among these settlements, the committee has recommended immediately relocating the Sallena settlement at Ward No 1, Maimatatola Bistabada of Ward No 2, Jilli of Bathanlekh at Ward No 7, and Ukhadi among other settlements at Ward No 3.
The report also names many settlements of various Rural Municipalities as high risk, which needed to be relocated immediately.
The settlements in Jagannath Rural Municipality are at low risk, CDO Baral said.
