A day after the Lower House unanimously endorsed a constitution amendment bill to update Nepal’s map, the Upper House on Sunday has endorsed the proposal to consider for amendment.
All the 258 Members of Parliament who were present at Saturday’s House meeting voted in favour of the bill, endorsing the new map of Nepal which depicts Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limipiyadhura as Nepali territories.
Rajendra Phuyal, secretary of the National Assembly Secretariat, tabled the bill at the first meeting of the Upper House on Sunday.
During the second meeting of the National Assembly later on Sunday, Law Minister Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe tabled a proposal to consider the bill for discussions.
After the discussions, the proposal to consider the bill was unanimously endorsed.
National Assembly members now have 72 hours to register amendment proposals, if they have any.
“We are making necessary preparations to endorse the bill within the next four days,” said Phuyal. KathmanduPost
