President, PM Extend Best Wishes On Democracy Day

Kathmandu, Feb. 20: President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have extended their best wishes to all the Nepalis on the occasion of 72nd Democracy Day.
In a message issued today, President Bhandari has wished for lasting peace, good governance, development and prosperity in the country.
President Bhandari said, “We must always remember that no matter what name is given, either democracy or people’s democracy, a people-based system of government should be able to leave a positive difference in the lives of the people.”
The democratic republic has to be connected with people’s lives by making the people experience real change through social justice, equality and prosperity, she added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Deuba highlighted the need for institutionalising significant political changes in the country.
To institutionalise these political changes, Prime Minister Deuba urged one and all to move forward with commitment toward democratic practises.
Stating that the political change of 2007 B.S was a far-reaching and historically significant revolution in the history of Nepal, PM Deuba said on the basis of this, various revolutions have been completed since then and today the journey to democracy, republic and federal system of government has been completed.
“This day is remembered as a day of success in transforming the people into citizens from Raiti (subjects), establishing their fundamental rights and ensuring their representation in the governance system.”  Rising Nepal
