Bomb targeting security forces kill 16 in Pakistan‎

PESHAWAR – Officials in northwestern Pakistan say a suicide bomber has attacked a police checkpoint, killing at least 16 people, including five policemen. At least 40 people were wounded in the blast.

Authorities say the attack happened Friday near a market in Khar, the main town of the Bajaur tribal district, along the Afghan border.

Officials say no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Pakistani Taliban has carried out similar attacks in the past.
