General strike cripples life in west

NEPALGUNJ – The continuous shut down, general strike and transport halt enforced by different political parties, professional organizations and struggle committees has crippled life in the region since the last ten days.

The five-day general strike enforced in the 22 districts of the west Tarai by the Tharu Joint Struggle Committee and the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities since Monday has further aggravated the situation.


Organisations like the Undivided Mid and Far West Regions Struggle Committee, the Madhes-centric parties, the Samyukta Morcha and other groups had organised general strike until Monday, paralyzing normal life in the region.
