Ethnic communities demand states to their names

Opposing the agreement among the four parties on making 11 states, there were various programmes held in the capital today.

 

At a mass meeting held by the lawmakers of Newa People’s Struggle Committee at the open air theatre in Kathmandu today, leaders of the committee said that a constitution without specification to identity would be unacceptable to them. At the convention, leaders warned of launching a street rally if a constitution without recognition to identity was promulgated. They have also given an ultimatum till May 22nd to cancel the agreement for 11 state- model.

Leaders of the Madheshi Front also showed solidarity with the sentiments of ethnic identity during the programme. Similarly, holding small assemblies at Chabahil, Koteshwor, and Sanepa, the communities of Kirant and Limbu groups also demanded a state same to their name. RSS
