KATHMANDU – Sharp differences have emerged between ruling coalition partners on organizing assemblies to counter the NC-UML backed mass gathering on June 8.
During the 18 party meeting, fringe parties opposed the proposal of Maoist and the Madheshi Front to organize counter rallies and assemblies across the nation.
Minister for Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, Eknath Dhakal said that along with his own party other fringe parties opposed the proposal arguing that it would further confrontation between the government and political parties.
However the lead actors in the government had different view. TMLP leader Dan Bahadur Chaudhary said that they proposed to organize the mass rallies to counter NC-UML’s conspiracy to dissolve the government.
He also said that they will go ahead with the mass gatherings and that the ruling coalition will clear the issues surrounding the dissolution of the CA, government formation and the way ahead.
While conceding the need to form national consensus government to conduct elections on November 7, Chaudhary said that the mass assembly is necessary to reveal the anti-federalist conspiracies of opposition parties.
