Civil society pressure works, Nepal and Paudel return vehicles

KATHMANDU – Senior leader of the CPN-UML and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal today returned a government vehicle, which he had received as per the facilities provided to former VIPs of the state.

Nepal returned the vehicle saying that question has been raised in public about the facilities to the former VIPs as the caretaker government brought the provision of providing facilities to former VIPs through ordinance.

Issuing a press release today, Nepal blamed that the government tried to divert attention towards other issues by issuing the ordinance without giving an outlet of national consensus and added that Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai did this to extend his stay in power.

In the press release, Nepal said “I want to inform that the public vehicle provided to me as a former prime minister has been returned today itself respecting the sentiments expressed by public about facilities and want to clarify that I have not taken any other facilities.”

Similarly, Vice-president of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Paudel, also returned a vehicle received as per the facilities provided to former VIPs of the state today.

Paudel returned the vehicle to the Parliament Secretariat.Paudel clarified that he returned the vehicle at the Parliament Secretariat and has not received other facilities except that, said Paudel’s aide Chiranjivi Adhikari quoting Paudel.

In the past, Paudel had not received vehicle facility provided to  parliamentarians. RSS
