श्रावण १७ गते, २०६९ मा प्रकाशितKATHMANDU – Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Top Bahadur Raimajhi has said that the government will hold Constituent Assembly elections by mid April, even if other political parties don’t reach consensus.
The Ministers statement comes at a time some days after the government’s failure to clear constitutional hurdles for the CA elections, that it had scheduled for November 22, due to lack of consensus among political parties.
Speaking at the Reporters Club Nepal on Wednesday Raimajhi said that the ruling coalition partners have agreed to continue endeavor for holding CA elections and decided to push the CA elections from November to mid-April.
Conceding that political necessity is imperative to conduct CA elections, Raimajhi said that the government had to fix dates for the elections, until political parties come together and do it.
In a different context, he said that the incumbent government won’t step down unless political parties resolve the disputed issues of the new constitution and resolve what type of elections are held.
” Agendas should be resolved prior to change of the guard. We won’t step down from the government, unless parties agree on agenda necessary to resolve impasse,” the Minister said at the program presided by Club’s President Rishi Dhamala.
Speaking at the same program, Chief of the Nepali Congress Publicity Department, Dr. Minendra Rijal, claimed that a unity government will be formed under the NC leadership in a few days by forging consensus among the political parties.
Similarly, Chief of the Publicity Department of the CPN (UML), Pradeep Gyawali, said the incumbent government has been entrapped from all sides and claimed the nationality as described by the Unified CPN (Maoist) has been used just as a ladder to reach to power.
Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani of the Rastriya Janashakti Party alleged that cases of corruption have gone up in the country during the time of the Dr. Bhattarai-led government. RSS
