Chief Secretary calls for an effective bureaucratic mechanism

KATHMANDU – Chief Secretary Lilamani Poudel has stressed the need of making the state mechanism more transparent and effective.


    Taking part in an interaction programme organised by the Office of the Auditor General here today, he said the improvement of bureaucracy was possible in the present structure and budget system itself.


    Stating that current expenditure under the Public Purchase Act has increased whereas the capital expenditure is on the decline, he called for carrying out improvement in bureaucracy to balance such a gap.


    The Chief Secretary further stressed the need of monitoring the expenditure of public budget and drew the attention of secretaries concerned towards maintaining transparency in the departmental activities and the subordinate bodies.
     Acting Auditor General Bimala Subedi said auditing and financial governance is the efficient management of public resources, underlining the need of effective work execution system with the maximum utilization of available resources.


    The Office was actively working to implement the governments’ zero tolerance policy against corruption, she said.At the programme, secretaries from different ministries presented the reports of respective activities and progress report of the same.

    Chiefs of different ministries, subordinate bodies and security chiefs were present at the programme. RSS
