The UCPN-Maoist and the Nepali Congress have decided to bring other parties into consensus in order to resolve the political crisis.
At a meeting held at NC President Sushil Koirala’s residence, Maharajgunj on Monday, the NC and the Maoist party agreed to resolve the current crisis through a constitutional remedy, said UCPN-Maoist Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
“Very positive and important discussion was held with the NC about the political crisis, formation of national consensus government and others,” he said, adding that talks were also held about striking a package deal within mid October.
The big two held the discussion in the backdrop that they were prodded by the President to resolve crisis at the earliest.
It is learnt that Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal proposed the NC for the restoration of the Constituent Assembly.
In response, NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba gave a positive nod to Dahal’s proposal, reasoning it would be less harmful.
Similarly, the big two also decided to continue talks with other political parties from next day.
Leader Deuba said if the parties continued talks, it would be easy to seek political solution.
The meeting was attended by Maoist Chairman Dahal, Vice-Chairman Shrestha, NC President Sushil Koirala, senior leader Deuba, and general secretary duo Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula.
